The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the first battle of the Revolutionary War that George Washington was so famous for. However, George Washington was not a part of this battle . The British had heard news that their was arms being stored in Concord. However, a source was able to warn the militiamen near Concord prior, so they were able to relocate the supplies. As the militiaman gathered while the British started to burn what little supplies were left in Concord, they opened fire, though no one knew which side had fired first. The British were driven back by the 2,000 colonists and they started to retreat. The Revolutionary War had begun.
